The Scottsdale Palms condominium complex had serious issues: their 50-year old galvanized plumbing system was suffering from constant water leaks and pipe breaks. The pipes had become severely rusted, turning the water brown and giving way to leaky pipes throughout the entire complex.

In some cases, the rust had weakened the pipes so severely that they were “blowing out,” or bursting because the pipe wall had been eaten through by corrosion. This was a particularly serious problem when the situation occurred in the water main servicing the pipes. The condominium building manager knew he had to do something before another catastrophic blow-out occurred.
